British motorists are increasingly taking notice of cars' green credentials when it comes to making a purchase, according to new research. Data released by AA Personal Loans revealed that more people look at the environmental impact of a car before buying, with almost a quarter saying they intend to buy a 'greener' car in the year ahead. Compared to the six per cent of people who raised this as an issue when the study began in January 2006, the statistics suggest a trend towards a more ethical form of buying. Mark Huggins, head of AA Personal Loans, said that the research showed that British motorists were become aware of the financial benefits that come with being environmentally-friendly. "Car buyers now realise that 'green' cars mean 'lean' cars with better fuel economy and cheaper tax discs," he added. Research from TescoCompare.com showed couples who co-habit could save more than £100 if they add their partner as an additional driver to their existing car insurance policy. ![]() |
