Britons are more susceptible to card fraud than any other country in Europe, new research has revealed. According to credit reference agency Equifax, nearly one in five Britons have been targeted in a credit or debit card scam. This means that the average UK cardholder is twice as likely as their European counterparts to suffer at the hands of a fraudster. A spokesperson for Equifax, Neil Munroe, said that the trend for fraud to be experienced by Britons was based upon the prevalence of cards in our culture and our increasing tendency to shop over the internet. As to which groups experienced fraud the most, Mr Munroe said that it occurred "across the board" but that there is a "particular targeting of the younger generation". © Adfero Ltd
