More than a third of Britons do not possess any buildings insurance cover, according to the British Insurance Brokers Association (Biba). The group has found that 36 per cent of people do not possess buildings insurance and 22 per cent do not have contents insurance. Graeme Trudgill, spokeperson for Biba, said that homeowners who were not covered could be "sued or be in a position to lose everything if their property is damaged or they themselves caused the damage to someone else's property". Mr Trudguill also said the figures showed that British homeowners had a "huge vulnerability". He added: "If you can't establish that someone else is negligent and you don't have any insurance then you are in serious trouble. We feel that it is a serious concern that 36 per cent of British people do not have buildings insurance." © Adfero Ltd
