Citizens Advice has launched a new online survey aimed at giving members of the public a say in reforming the UK's unemployment support system. Anyone who is either unemployed, receives state benefits or has had interviews at their local Jobcentre Plus is invited to participate in the poll, which can be found on the charity's website. Results of the survey can then be used by Citizens Advice to inform its campaigns for the government to make its support services as effective as possible. In turn, this might decrease the financial problems faced by people on low incomes, making it less likely that they will fall into adverse credit. Demand for this support has increased as a result of the recession, which has led to widespread job cutbacks and the unemployment rate rising to a 14-year high. Commenting on the poll, Katie Lane, Citizens Advice benefits and tax credits social policy officer, said: "We want to make sure the government is delivering the high-quality personalised support it has promised to help people back to work. "By telling us about your experiences you can help us campaign for better back-to-work support for all." © Copyright |
