Derby Express – 31st August 2006

POUNDNOTES

In case the worse happens, households mustn’t economise by dropping ‘cheap as chips’ life cover, says Richard Brown at personal finance website Moneynet.co.uk. He noted a dramatic fall in demand for life cover in June and July, possibly because energy bills, rising petrol prices and repayments of personal loans are grabbing a growing share of household budgets. Says Mr Brown “Homeowners with young children could leave themselves very vulnerable by ignoring this basic cover.” Enquiries: 0208 460 2833 and www.moneynet.co.uk.

CARAT RESPONDS TO AD BUDGETS’ SHIFT ONLINE

Simpson stresses that at Starcom, while its digital department is brought in at the initial planning stages, most media plans are ultimately down to the individual client and that the group wouldn’t push digital onto any client. At the same time it has clients, such as Moneynet, that are solely digital.

Oxford Mail – 29th August 2006

‘CUTTING THROUGH THE JARGON AND GIVING YOU THE FACTS STRAIGHT’

Co-op Bank a ‘best buy’ in August’s Which? Magazine, charged 32.92% on unauthorised overdrafts, while HSBC charged only its standard rate (15.9%) compared with £30 per day (max £90 per month) by Lloyds TSB, £28 per month (Halifax), or £20 per item on the account (Abbey). Moneynet.co.uk chief executive Richard Brown said banks appeared to be cutting back on incentive offers.

Sunday Telegraph – 20th August 2006

FIRST STEPS ON THE PROPERTY LADDER

“First time buyers will feel the pinch with the latest interest rate increases as they are already forced to commit a large percentage of take-home pay to their mortgage repayments,” says Richard Brown from the fincncial website Moneynet.co.uk.

Daily Express – 9th August 2006

GRADUATES FACE MOUNTING DEBTS

A similar choice is offered by the personal finance website Moneynet.co.uk where chief executive Richard Brown says banks appear to be cutting back on incentive offers this year.

BBC 1 – 7th August 2006

INTEREST RATE HIKE

Mortgage payers face paying more. STUDIO INERVIEW: RICHARD BROWN, CHIEF EXECUTIVE, MONEYNET.CO.UK – it is a small rise but someone who owes £100,000 will have to find about £20 more. I expect rates will remain stable for the rest of the year. On top of rising energy costs this is further pressure on the consumer.

Express & Star (Cannock) – 7th August 2006

LIFE ASSURANCE ENQUIRIES DROP

Levels of enquiries to Moneynet’s life cover service plummeted by nearly 50 per cent in June and July of this year, down from nearly 8,000 during May to a little over 4,000 enquiries in each of June and July. Enquiry levels recorded on Monyeynet’s online financial data comparison service are a broadly accurate measure of the levels of life cover broker sales. The Moneynet data also reflects worrying anecdotal evidence within the life industry that consumers are turning their backs on the product.

THE 5 FINANCIAL PRODUCTS YOU DON’T NEED

A glance at the names of some of the main comparison site providers reveals a clear focus on the price of money: MoneyExpert, Moneyextra, Moneyfacts, Moneynet and Moneysupermarket. These providers promote the need to shop around by regularly publishing research into consumer satisfaction in the personal finance arena.

VIEW FROM THE SEA-FRONT

Richard Brown, of online financial data service Moneynet.co.uk “While the property market is probably at its strongest for many years, the early summer months – normally an excellent time for property sales activity – have this year proved to be frustratingly slow because of the heat and the football,” he said.
