Swans and Rocks
What do swans and rocks have in common? Not much you might think. However, if they happen to be Black Swans and Northern Rocks they have much in common.
A Black Swan is a highly improbable, hard to predict and extremely rare event beyond the realm of normal expectation. It is also an event which makes a large impact.
The run on Northern Rock in September was a classic Black Swan.

Although by their very nature Black Swans cannot be predicted, it is imperative that anyone with investments - however modest - reviews them regularly to ensure that a Black Swan has not decimated their value. For example, if a fund in which you invest, perhaps via an ISA or PEP had a large holding of Northern Rock shares which plummeted in value by over 80% then performance will clearly have suffered.
And some of the best-known fund management companies can have funds that perform abysmally. But they won't tell you which they are, even if your money is invested in them. And where money's concerned ignorance is certainly not bliss.
So what can you do? Well, we've teamed up with Moneyspider so that you can now see how your funds are REALLY performing. Moneyspider monitors all funds daily and analyses their performance against every other fund on the market. This means you can see exactly what your funds are worth and crucially how they compare with other funds. Moneyspider tells investors what their fund managers can't such as how the performance of the fund they are in compares with funds from other managers. Better still is the fact that there is no Registration Fee and you will never be asked for any money.
Moneyspider compares the performance of all 2,000 funds and provides a unique rating for each one. This easy to follow rating system indicates how each investor's funds are performing by ranking every fund from A (excellent) to E (awful).
In addition to rating each fund, the personalised reports show the current value of a portfolio and give details on the performance of an investor's funds compared to others in the same sector and in other sectors. Updated daily, it is an invaluable tool. So, if you really want to see how your own funds are performing register for free today and start receiving your own personalised report.
Moneyspider can't predict the next Black Swan, but by giving you meaningful and easy to understand information you can at least make sure that you are doing everything possible to protect your hard-earned money.
