Last-minute holidaymakers 'beware of credit card charges'
People planning to go on holiday at the end of the summer have been advised to pay attention to how much their credit card company will charge them to take money out when they are abroad.
A spokesperson from Candidmoney.com has stated that for some customers it can be "daylight robbery" when withdrawing cash. A few financial services providers even charge up to £1.50 for each transaction when consumers spend money with their card overseas.
Take time to check the hidden charges, it was suggested, with the representative saying: "Most cards charge around 2.75 per cent as a currency exchange charge on foreign transactions and a further several pounds when withdrawing cash."
However, travellers could save a lot of money by going away during school term, as Santander Credit Cards recently revealed that the price of a package break can be hiked by up to 92 per cent during the holidays.
