Insulating your home 'doesn't take a lot of effort'
Homeowners who are looking to save money on their electricity bills have been told that insulating their properties could be easier than they originally thought.
Andrew Leech, director at the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC), said many people do not realise how "convenient" it is to install insulation to their homes, which will reduce the amount of energy they use.
His comments come after the British Property Federation recently asked the government to encourage take-up of the Green Deal by levying VAT at five per cent for measures conducted under the scheme.
However, the NHIC representative suggested that "it is really about getting off your couch and getting the work done".
Property owners could look around the roof and see if they can do anything themselves, before calling in assistance, Mr Leech commented.
And those who are eligible for help from their local council could get a grant for making the property more environmentally-friendly.
"Then they can get a team in there to help clear the loft ready for the insulation," added Mr Leech.
