Caravan owners 'should take out the right cover, not the cheapest'
Caravan owners have been advised to research insurance products carefully so that they can be sure the policies cover their requirements fully.
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at the British Insurance Brokers Association, emphasised the importance of taking out the appropriate cover for their motorhomes.
"People just try and buy the cheapest possible. I think that is quite dangerous," Mr Trudgill stated.
He added: "They should get it based upon what is appropriate for them."
The insurance specialist recommended caravan owners think about whether they would like to take their vehicle abroad, for instance, which may require a different insurance policy to cover any problems that could occur overseas.
Mr Trudgill went on to suggest people should ask for advice when taking out motor insurance to make sure it definitely covers their needs.
Vehicle owners may be rewarded if they have a good history of driving behaviour and the Sainsbury's Car Insurance's Driver Behaviour Index 2011 recently revealed that the number of people who take to the road while tired has fallen by ten per cent over the year to August 2011.
