Banks 'will listen' to debt problems
High street banks and financial institutions will help customers with their financial difficulties when they run into problems, one industry professional has stressed.
Richard Marriott, head of savings at Nationwide, claimed that there are people willing to help and find the best option of getting their customers out of debt.
He remarked: "If customers have debt one of the things they will want to do will be to pay down that debt if they can, that would be a very efficient way to go.
"Equally, if they've got a complicated financial situation, or if they are just in need of some advice or help, I would say come and talk to any of the high street banks or financial institutions."
This could be crucial if consumers are facing issues of being refused credit because of their past history.
Indeed, recent research from Bright Grey shows that one in six adults living alone are overspending and living beyond their means.
The survey found that on average, these adults say they need £327 more a month in order to lead a comfortable life.
