Property asking prices rise at fastest rate in 10 months
The average property asking price has risen at its fastest rate in nearly a year, new figures show.
FindaProperty reports that asking prices have increased 0.5 per cent, or £1,122 over the course of March.
Now, the average asking price is £216,968 in the UK.
One of the reasons for this, explained David Amstell, founder at property website Briffy.com, is because the weather is brightening, which historically gets the property market moving.
He noted that between now and the summer holidays is the peak time for property sales.
However, Mr Amstell noted that access to financing is not made any easier.
"I don't imagine there is going to be any great increase in property prices," he suggested, despite the higher asking price. "I think we are still in a situation where money is quite expensive compared to what it was and it is hard to come by."
Indeed, figures the Building Societies Association recently reported that demand for property from mortgage holders is weak, with just 41 per cent of people thinking that now is a good time to buy.
